The Cascades Humane Society recently held a pet calendar contest raising approximately $21,000. Pet owners were able to schedule a photo shoot with photographer Carrie Sadelman of Freeland Photography. Sadelman took several shots of the pets, then the owners had the opportunity to select the best photo to enter in the contest. Sadelman said that she has enjoyed doing this for CHS for the past seven years.

Once all the contestants’ pictures were loaded onto CHS’s website voting commenced. For a $1 a vote individuals chose their favorite pet photo. The contestant with the most votes won and will be displayed in a calendar for purchase at CHS. Ninety two contestants participated and the following are the top 12.

Each dollar raised would go to the direct care of the animals. A new addition, 1200 sq. ft. would house a dog holding area, for approximately 11 dog cages, four to six cat cages and a surgical suite.
