Vandercook Lake 8       Columbia 2

The Lady Golden Eagles and the Vandercook Lake Jayhawks split a softball doubleheader. In the opener, Vandercook Lake outhit Columbia Central in an 8-2 victory. Senior catcher McKenzee Tompkins picked up a pair of hits for the Golden Eagles with a single and a double.

In the nightcap, senior Abbey Hatler went the distance to pick up the pitching win in an 8-6 victory. Reagan Steele collected 3 hits in the non-conference matchup.


Columbia 5                   Lenawee Christian 1

For the second time in four days, Columbia Central outplayed Lenawee Christian enroute to an easy 5-1 league win. The win moved the Lady Eagles to 8-1 in league play and 8-3 overall.

The lead was 4-0 at the half with goals from Sophie Stahl, Riley Fish and a pair from senior Hailey Dickens. The teams played even in the second half with Stahl scoring her second goal of the game.


May 8

Columbia 7                   Vandercook Lake 4

Justin Midena picked up the win in the early game as Columbia held on for a 7-4 victory over the Jayhawks.  With one win under their belt, the Golden Eagles were looking for the sweep but could not hang on and fell to the Vandercook Lake Jayhawks 8-5 in the second game of the non-conference doubleheader.

In the second game, Columbia led 5-4 in the sixth inning but sloppy defense led to 4-runs and that proved to be the difference.

Khol Partridge finished 6-8 while Gehrig Elliott was 3-4 and earned 3 walks.  Chase Tompkins also had a productive day at the plate with a 5-7 effort that included a clutch double to the fence.


May 11

Hudson 177      Columbia 182

The Tigers of Hudson recently hosted and won the L.C.A.A. boys golf jamboree, held on the grounds of the Evergreen Golf and Country Club. The host school finished with a team nine-hole total of 177 to edge current league leader Hillsdale who finished with a 179.

The Golden Eagles recorded their best score of the year (182) to finish in a tie for 4th place.
