Marshmallow drop, fundraiser for Bliven family on tap this weekend

CCHS movie night fundraiser for Bliven family

Columbia Central High School’s student senate will be hosting a community-wide movie night fundraiser on Friday, March 23 to help raise money for the Bliven family. Don Bliven (father of Zach Bliven, a student at Columbia Central High School) has been suffering from heart failure and is in need of a heart transplant.

The school will be showing ‘Moana’ in the high school’s library starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $2/student and $5/adult. There will be popcorn and other types of snacks for sale during the movie. ALL proceeds will go to the Bliven family. For more information, contact CCHS at 517-592-6634.

 

 

Home and Lifestyle Show at the Jackson Fairgrounds

The 42nd annual Home and Lifestyle Show is scheduled for March 23, 24, and 25 at the American 1 Event Center, 200 W. Ganson St., Jackson. Show times are Friday, from 3 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 to 3 p.m. Participants will have an opportunity to meet with building contractors and suppliers who will show the latest trends in home remodeling, whether outside or inside.

Marshmallow drop at Napoleon Airport

Skydive Tecumseh and Fiddle Bricker’s is hosting a fundraiser for the Brooklyn Food Pantry Saturday, March 24 at 2 p.m. This event includes watching skydivers, chasing marshmallows, horses, vendor tables, testing egg containers and listening to music. The cost of the event is the donation of one can of food per child.

 

Children 4-14 will have an opportunity to make their own protective egg contraption with a raw egg inside. The container will be dropped from a height of approximately 8 feet. Those eggs that do not break will receive a raffle ticket for a prize drawing.

Sugaring and shearing at Ella Sharp Museum

Spring has sprung so save the date for Ella Sharp Museum’s annual Sugaring and Shearing Festival Sunday, March 25, from noon to 4 p.m. This event includes a planetarium show, historic buildings open, free art and history exhibits, sheep herding, sheep shearing, and maple syrup making are all on the schedule at this free family event. Tinkergarten program offers free trial classes

Tinkergarten is a program that helps kids to get outside and explore, problem solve, communicate, collaborate and create together.  Facilitator Sarah Cripe is offering four free trial classes Saturday, March 24, Tuesday, March 27, Saturday, March 31 and Friday, April, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at Swain Memorial Park, located at Tecumseh and River streets in Brooklyn. This program is geared for ages 18 months to 5 years.
