Meet one of Ben’s Beginners

To say that Dakota Springer is a little precocious would be a bit of an understatement.

Dakota is the son of Dave and Tanya Springer and grandson to Jim and Jan Knutson of Brooklyn, and while he is only 13, he is developing a variety of interests.

Not only does Dakota love to hunt and fish (a natural extension from the Knutson side, as they own Knutson’s Sporting Goods) but he is clearly comfortable in front of a camera as well as in the kitchen.

It is turning out to be a good blend of abilities, as Dakota is participating in a contest sponsored by Uncle Ben’s Rice. In the contest, Dakota is shown whipping up a chicken wrap that includes, of course, some Uncle Ben’s rice.

It is clear from the video that Dakota is not only a natural in front of the camera, but in the kitchen as well. He gives a pointer or two to viewers (always put a wet paper towel under your cutting board so it doesn’t slip) and makes it clear that he is not only in it for the contest, he truly loves to cook.

While he may or may not end up in the kitchen for a career, he could also be a pitchman, cooking up sales for some lucky company.

Oh, by the way, the contest in which Dakota is participating will have 5 grand prize winners who will be awarded $45,000 each, with $30,000 going to the school of their choice and $15,000 going to their family.
