Michigan Center, four other local teams vying for girls’ district basketball titles


Michigan Center High School, pictured above during a home game last week against Napoleon, will be playing for a Michigan High School Athletic Association Class C district basketball title game Friday at 7 p.m. at home The Cardinals knocked off Concord 66-49 to advance to the district final against Lumen Christi — a winner against Napoleon. Onsted High School will face Chelsea in a Class B district final after the Wildcats defeated Adrian 56-31 and Chelsea defeated Columbia Central, 42-24. The Class B district final will be played at CCHS Friday at 7 p.m. Springport will face Saranac at Galesburg-Augusta Friday at 7 p.m. for a Class C district title. The Spartans defeated the host school 60-39 in a district semifinal game. Grass Lake will face Madison in a Class C district final at Manchester High School Friday at 7 p.m. The Warriors defeated Clinton 54-21 while Madison won against Addison 41-27. In Class A, Jackson lost to Okemos 45-37 and in Class B Olivet ended Northwest’s season with a 39-27 win.
