American 1 Kids’ Fest
American 1 Credit Union is sponsoring its annual Kids’ Fest at the Jackson County Fairgrounds Friday, June 16, from noon to 5 p.m. Kids’ Fest is a free event designed to help children learn about the following topics: health, nutrition, art, safety, community and much more. Each booth offers a hands-on activity, game or craft for children to help them learn. The Jackson County Fairgrounds is located at 200 W. Ganson St., Jackson. Arts in the Park season begins
Arts in the Park will kick off its season with Steve Berkemeier Friday, June 16 at 7 p.m. This year’s sponsors include the Exponent, JTV, Village of Brooklyn, West Bay Exploration, Guthrie Ford, Modern Waste, Shady’s Tap Room, M & K Jetting & TV, RJT Construction, Lester Bros., ITC, Village Peddler Gift Shoppe, Inc., Oh These Irish Hills!, Irish Hills Women’s Club, The Elrod Family and the Morin Family.

Juneteenth celebration at CP Federal City Square
Jackson College will host a Juneteenth Celebration featuring Motown, jazz and gospel music Saturday, June 17, from 4 to 9:30 p.m. at the CP Federal City Square, Jackson. Performing will be the band Phase 5, Jackson’s own Shantelle and Terence Hawkins. DJ Jerome Smith will kick off the evening. Included in this program is a Resource Fair that will have representation from various areas of the community such as education, employment, healthcare and more.
The Juneteenth Celebration is a free community event. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration of freedom for African-Americans. It commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in 1865.
Onsted American Legion to hold SAL dance June 17
The Onsted American Legion is holding an SAL dance Saturday, June 17, from 6 to 10 p.m. at 333 Connor St., Onsted. Members and the public are welcome.
